Poker Face Lyrics and Lady Gaga’s Poker Faced Success
Posted by: | Comments“Poker Face” lyrics were written by Lady Gaga (Stefani Germanotta) as well as Nadir Khayat and produced by RedOne. This is the song that put Lady Gaga on the map and entered the American zeitgeist—so much so that the song was parodied by Eric Cartman on South Park. (That’s when you know you’ve made it!) Poker Face was on Lady Gaga’s debut album, “The Fame”, which was released in 2008.
This is an up-tempo dance song written in G# minor but was a departure from her earlier performance in “Just Dance” because of its darker tones and suggestive themes. Most critics gave the single good reviews for its hypnotic notes and its robotic, techno-approach to chorus lines. The Poker Face lyrics also received some positive reviews. The Times stated that Poker Face was one of the “finest moments of the album,” and liked Gaga’s theme of love as a card game. Billboard states Gaga’s creative mix of musical styles comes from 80s synthesizers, sunny hooks and robotic verses, all of which make for an “addictive” song. The song also received Grammy award nominations and three wins.
The song topped the charts in over 20 countries and continues to be the most downloaded song in British chart history. It has sold nearly ten million copies. Lady Gaga still performs Poker Face and most recently stopped by American Idol to give a live rendition, as well as the Fame Ball and Monster Ball tours. She has played the electronic version of the song as well as an acoustic version with piano. Rolling Stone liked it so much they ranked it number #96 on the “100 Best Songs of the 2000s.”
Poker Face lyrics center on the game of love, and start tongue-in-cheek with verses like “I wanna hold em like they do in Texas please” and “After he’s hooked I’ll play the one that’s on his heart.” She also drops references to strip poker, Russian roulette, gambling and of course, “bluffin’ with my muffin.” Of course the Poker Face lyrics are secondary to the tune and Gaga’s eccentric personality; this is a song that has multiple choruses of “Mum mum mum mah.”
The song is so popular it is even a downloadable song of the game Rock Band—that is both the Cartman-sung version and the original Gaga-tastic single. Why not listen to Poker Face right now? Just don’t let her see you sweat.

Understanding Casino Poker Tables? Blackjack Terminology
Posted by: | CommentsWhen you first begin playing blackjack, and you’ve never played before, you may start noticing that there are quite a lot of terms being used and you have NO idea what they mean! The blackjack terms are pretty important because not knowing them can? well it can make you look like an idiot okay? And you don?t want that to happen on a casino poker table.
If need be, get someone to quiz you so you can make sure you get all the terms right! Playing blackjack, but not knowing the terms is somewhat like riding a horse, without the horse. And if you don’t want to be the horses(you know what), you should take these terms into consideration when playing your next game.
5, 6 or 7 Charlie: I’ve had this quite a few times when playing blackjack. This happens when you have 5, 6 or 7 cards equaling out to be under 21! Very simple!
Bankroll: This is the player?s starting out money, or the money you walk up to the table with. Usually at the table this will refer to the amount the player invests in the game rather than the money the player has.
Break / Broke: This is when a player has something like a 14, then he or she hits and gets an 8 ? You just broke the bank, aka ?the hand?. This means you lost, since the point of blackjack is to get 21 pts! Some people may also know this is a “bust”.
Card Shark: As with a similar term “pool shark” this is a person that played it off like they were inexperienced, when really they are an expert marksman and YOU were their mark. Chances are, they whooped ya? hard!
DOA or Double On Anything: This is said when you want to double down on any two first cards you receive.
Face Card: You should know this one and I hope you do because it’s an easy one – a face card is a King Queen or Jack.
High Roller: A person that places large bets – this can be down out of intimidation or simply because they can afford to do so.
Hit Me: This is used when you want to get another card from the dealer. You can keep on adding cards or hitting until you reach 21 or the number you want to stop at. In an actual casino while playing at casino poker tables, this is done by tapping your forefinger on the casino poker tables.
Mid Shoe Entry: This is when you join a blackjack game that is already in process. Most casinos will NOT allow a Mid Shoe Entry simply because there is always that chance that the person entering late, may have cheated and brought extra cards with them. If they want to play, they have to wait until the game is over and the dealer reshuffles the card for a new game.
Sweeten A Bet: This is always a big one when watching casino Poker tables on television. It simply means to increase the wager when it’s possible to do so. Ultimately you can wager as much as you want to unless there is a cap off, which there usually isn’t – not in a casino anyway.
Quarters: This is a confusing term! It should mean quarters, but it doesn’t! Instead, it’s a chip!
As aforementioned, there are MANY more terms than the ones listed above, probably a good 200 or so. These terms are important to learn to make YOU look like a professional when working the poker chips or when playing at casino poker tables. At home? You can be a little more relaxed in how you play and what you do. But in an actual casino setting you need to know what all of these terms mean. It’s especially important if you are ever in a tournament!

Books on Poker

This video will probably just be interesting to poker players. Dan Harrington is perhaps the best author on Poker out there. His cash game books will probably be great resources, and his tournament book is invaluable. Sklansky is good, particularly for limit books. Card Player must be retrieved from casinos for free, do not pay for it! Most importantly to know though is that many people (most) shouldn’t be playing poker and do anyway. Read “Your Worst Poker Enemy” by Alan Schoonmaker if the game is bothering you. It will help you make rational decisions concerning poker on many levels, including whether it is wise to continue playing. This book saved me a lot of money, and it can help you control your emotions. Don’t take advice from a losing player unless you are one, and if you are, listen closely: Consider quitting! I accidentally left out Super Systems. I found the book to be interesting and vital if you are into the history of poker, but not very strategically important. You’d better read it if you are serious about the game, to understand fast players like Brunson, but it isn’t a very good book for beginners.

Sample Transcript You’ve heard me say a few times now that video poker is the best slot machine bet in the casino. That’s true because video poker games universally have higher payback than regular reel or video slots. There are a couple of reasons for this, but perhaps the biggest reason is that video poker games are considered ‘skill based’ games. Put simply, they’re the only type of slot machine that allow you a certain level of control over the outcome other than when you hit the bet button. When you play video poker, you’re initially given five cards and can choose to hold or discard those cards on the next draw, changing your outcome. If you’re good at poker, you can greatly increase your odds of winning over the long term by holding the right cards at the right times, but if you’re a poor player you can actually decrease your payback by holding the wrong cards. Because there are far more poor poker players …
